Blue Beard Schottische is a cute little dance written by St. Louis, Missouri composer Charles Balmer in the mid 1800s. Charles Balmer (who used the pen name Henry Werner) was a well known composer of the time and served as the president of the St. Louis Philharmonic Society. A schottische is a popular dance of the time, basically like a slow polka. This composition was originally a dance for solo piano.
