Boss of Funk is a Latin-funk hybrid chart for big band. I got the idea listening to one of my saxophone heroes, Maceo Parker, playing a tune called Latin Like. The solos are in the funk style with some stop time for the soloist and drums only. Range and rhythmic considerations make this a fairly advanced tune, suitable for upper-level high school or college jazz bands.
